You can get them apprised by a friendly local game store, go to two to make sure neither is ripping you off / you get a good deal.

Be careful, the basic land mentionned in this comment is a very special one. (available only in Arabian Nights boosters).

But yes, there is a lot of speculation on Magic cards. And older cards are now VERY expensive.
