Culture and community can bring out the best and worst in people. I would argue that it is better than none at all though.
Otherwise we will become one giant blob of humans for multinational corps to market to and control. Generations of culture are replaced by one mono-pop culture. The strings can be easily pulls.
History teaches us that any borders can be redrawn or eliminated completely.
