What we think shouldn't matter, instead we should look at the evidence to judge if Agile is beneficial for software delivery.

The problem is that research into software engineering sucks. The silver lining is that some people have done small scale studies on this subject.

The studies I've read range from no impact to a significant improvement of using Agile methodologies over, say, waterfall processes. This large variability is a hint of how inconsistent these studies are, but I've seen more evidence piling up in the "good" side of the scale.

However, from your loaded comment seems clear you aren't really interested in data anyway.
