Often neglected are the Scrum values: Commitment, Courage, Focus, Openness, and Respect. Values form a foundation for success. When agile principles are ignored and Scrum values not incorporated, Scrum (or any other methodology or set of practices) can become just a control mechanism for Taylor-istic "resource management." Scrum can be a great way for a software engineering team to and operate when they understand and apply the values and use it to self-organize, deliver regular increments of valuable software, inspect and adapt.
