Apple and the EU seem to be making these decisions so far as they roll out privacy features and laws, but the web still seems pretty wild west.
I want something like six known levels, prominently displayed in the browser for every page I visit, with the ability to confirm before loading pages above a certain level.
1: Telemetry is opt-in and never resold. The experience is not degraded by opt-out.
2: Telemetry is opt-in and resold. The experience is not degraded by opt-out.
3: Telemetry is opt-in and never resold. The experience is degraded by opt-out.
4: Telemetry is opt-in and resold. The experience is degraded by opt-out.
5: Telemetry is always on and not resold.
6: Telemetry is always on and resold.
What would your standard be if the dominant browser weren't owned by a company with a level 6 business model?
