I mean this whole thing makes zero sense in the first place.

Why are you moving on from the first round when you don't have all the absentee votes (~120k outstanding votes) counted yet?

I get that it's their first time running RCV and all, but this is basically a non-issue when SF runs elections.


One good thing is that this is just a primary election, so I think any of these hiccups will be smoothed over by the party. But if this was a two party election, I think this could look really bad.


Whoever wins this primary is almost certainly guaranteed to win the general, so it's pretty much the same set of stakes.


My point was more that since they’re from the same party, these things can get smoothed over. The losing candidate will be far less likely to cry foul. The winner might appoint the loser to their team, etc.


Don't test in prod. Really!
