It's better to keep private diary than low standard blog.

Trying to promote low quality writing in social media is not a good idea. People unsubscribe from your feeds. You get reputation as a self-promoter. When you actually have something to say, nobody notices.

I believe the intent is to not be a perfectionist (like me) and, instead, publish things that might below one's level of perfection. It's likely that's more than good enough, and is ultimately better than not publishing them at all.

I don't think he's saying anything about self-promotion? I believe many folks have the opposite problem: not promoting themselves, often because they think their stuff isn't very good.

The whole point of blogging was to push ideas out, and have a conversation with your fellow bloggers. In conversations, statements are reinterpreted and error corrected in the course of time.
