So yes, for those of us who have done Systems Administration as a lifestyle/career, yeah you do all of those things and it's part of the fun. Over-utilization of bandwidth isn't really a "problem" unless you're doing something weird like streaming video, a 1Gbps circuit can support thousands upon thousands of requests per second.
