This is the exact example I use too. Now self-driving till AI has a proper world model, so maybe not ever. Another case: I drive and see an empty paper bag blown onto the road by the wind. I know it is empty because of the way it flew, but "autopilot" may mistake it for the rock and suddenly stop or swerve. Though mistaking rock for a paper bag and driving on would be much worse.
