Would you rather invest in a 28nm chip fabrication plant, or Bitcoin?

I feel there has got to be room in the market for smaller scale fabrication; not necessarily "garage scale" but maybe gymnasium scale production that can turn out older designs with larger feature sizes.

After all the patents on those have expired and there's an enormous free library of stuff coming open, right?
