Should have tried https://linuxfromscratch.org/ instead.

Gentoo is mostly just BLFS and ALFS from there, with more available packages, and centralized 'USE FLAGS' ( https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/USE_flag ) which could be considered one of Gentoos USPs.

thank you!

Try doing it in 2002 with old hardware.

Xorg took forever, especially the fonts for some reason.

Funny you should mention it, that was the first I tried, and I never tried again. Only until just recently had I even had the thought. Needless to say I was not successful my first try.

I used it up to like 2010 or so. Maybe 2013.

The hardware was much better but compilers got far more complex and it didn't get that much faster.

Still the best thing you can do after linux from scratch.

A shame that drobins tried to push his creationist agenda one time too many.

Been there, done that. Did the same with Net-&FreeBSD.

Not so much with Debian, there it was just apt shred --dist-chainsaw, or something like that ;->

And then:

> Type this sentence in all caps!

I should also and the most longest too :P But also WTF systemd?
